Mother's Day and another week passed by.

Well first off apologies for the big gap in postings.  All sorts of problems this week, lost my Iphone, Blogger was down for a while...   Anyway a bit late but here is a week old post.

Another week and a continued mixed bag on the training front. On the plus side the two Red Dog Tri (RDT)sessions, a swim on Friday and 100k cycle on Saturday were both great workouts. So far with the Saturday rides I have been coinciding with the RDT rides that cover my usual rural riding surrounds but with some nice variations thrown in. On Saturday we looped down to Raby Bay and out to the Cleveland lighthouse.
The rumour is that the ride for this coming Saturday is to Mt Nebo, a steady 19km climb to 617m. I've never ridden out that way so really looking forward to that.
The Queensland winter is not that far off and the temp was down around 12.5 C at 6:00 am for kick-off. This is the best time of the year here though and it was a very nice 19 deg by the time we finished. I struggle to think back to the Kiwi winters in Wellington when 6 deg or cooler was not unusual.
On the negative side of the training ledger I did not complete a run at all last week, apart from 1.4km each way to the pool in Melbourne. The creaky old Achilles tendon is not coping and so this week I am resting it completely, and have a physio session booked in for Friday evening. From my research it seems that the best thing to do is to rest it back to a usable condition. Then once it is in a working state a pretty stringent regime of stretching, massage, ice and compression seem to be the answer. So will be looking to substitute in some extra swim & cycle sessions to keep the hours up, and may even look to do some strengthening work in the gym.

We all had a great Mother's Day here in Brisbane, hope all you did also.
